An Albrightsville man has been charged with stealing from a Chestnuthill Township home after the homeowner saw him on video camera.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by Trooper Richard Weinstock of the Pennsylvania State Police, Fern Ridge barracks in the case against Thomas Kram:

At 1:38 p.m. Dec. 14, the victim contacted PSP Fern Ridge to report that she was watching a man who did not belong within the residence in the 600 block of Merwinsburg Road from a hidden camera within the kitchen of the residence.

At that time, the man dropped to his knees and crawled to the basement door and left the residence.

Fern Ridge police arrived on scene and secured the residence.

Police said he had damaged the basement exterior door to enter the residence.

The man’s identity was found through a query of the VIN of his vehicle, and the vehicle registration plate’s revealed that it did not belong to the vehicle where it was placed.

The VIN showed that the vehicle belonged to Kram, 39.

Video surveillance matched Kram’s Pennsylvania driver’s license photograph.

Kram’s vehicle was seized as evidence. The vehicle was placed in the police impound lot, and a heating unit with cut wires attached to a breaker box was seen in the back seat.

Tools were also on the seat.
