Schuylkill man charged with attempted homicide

A Schuylkill County man was jailed on Wednesday after he was charged with multiple counts, including attempted homicide, for firing a rife at another person.

State police at Schuylkill Haven identified the man as Donald Archie Wrona, 44, of Pottsville.Troopers said they responded to a residence along Walnut Lane in Norwegian Township about 6:30 a.m. On scene officers observed Wrona in possession of a 30-06 rifle. Troopers said he was disheveled wearing only white underwear and a white robe. He also appeared to be hallucinating.Through the investigation troopers learned that Wrona was banging on a neighbors' door and carrying a rife. It was further determined that Wrona fired his rife in the direction of a 24-year-old man. A neighbor told troopers she heard multiple gun shots from the Wrona home.Wrona was taken into custody and charged with attempted criminal homicide, two counts of aggravated assault, six counts of discharge a firearm into an occupied structure, all felonies; seven counts of recklessly endangering another person, two counts of criminal mischief and one count each of terroristic threats and simple assault, all misdemeanors.He was arraigned by District Judge David Plachko, of Port Carbon, and committed to the county prison after failing to post $350,000 straight cash bail.
