Jennie Serina, formerly of Tamaqua and Lansford, will celebrate her 95th birthday today, Dec. 17. She is a current guest at the Mahoning Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Mahoning Township.

She is a daughter of the late Martin and Jennie Matula. She is the last surviving member of her family, as siblings Martin, Joseph, John, Thomas and Anna Philipovic have passed away.

Before entering the nursing home, Jennie last lived with her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Linda Serina of Tamaqua.

She has two granddaughters, Laura Serina, and her husband, Gene Strohl, and Kristen, wife of David Lazaras; and two great-grandsons, Ryan and Jamie Lazaras. A great-granddaughter Katie is deceased.
