A Kovatch Mobile Equipment employee faces charges after he was caught stealing from the Nesquehoning company.

Ian Curtis, 30, of West Snyder Avenue, Lansford, was charged with theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.According to the affidavit filed by Nesquehoning police officer Timothy Wuttke, on Feb. 9, officer Carl Breiner received a call from the human resources director at KME, who stated she wanted to report a theft involving one of the company's employees, identified as Curtis.On Feb. 9, Wuttke spoke with the director again regarding the theft.The director said the company had suspected that an employee was taking items for a while and on Feb. 9, caught him doing so. Curtis was seen carrying a box out of the facility and placing it in his car.Supervisors confronted Curtis about the box and at that time, Curtis became emotional.The three went to Curtis' car and removed the box.Found inside was four each of 1½-inch and 2-inch tape, two bottles of electrical parts cleaner, one bottle of Loctite gasket sealant, a hardware kit, 125 feet of chain, a blue washing pad and six cans of Krylon spray paint, valued at $319.64.Curtis told supervisors he had the items for a project he was working on at home.Police attempted to contact Curtis following the interviews with KME officials but were not able to reach him.Curtis now faces a preliminary hearing before District Judge Casimir Kosciolek on March 29.
