A Northampton woman demanded a hearing before a Carbon County District Judge on a charge of disorderly conduct and represented herself at the proceeding.
The district judge, Casimir Kosciolek, then forwarded the charge to Carbon County Court for trial.Barbara J. Cassium, 64, remains free on $1,000 unsecured bail. Her arrest occurred on June 5 following an incident at the Lansford Police Station. The affidavit says officer Brian Horos of the Lansford Police Department had a male in custody who was in possession of marijuana.Cassium, the defendant's grandmother, showed up at the police station and became irate, complaining about police harassment.Even after leaving the police station, Cassium raised a disturbance outside, police say.Cassium testified at the hearing that it was Horos who was disruptive."He was totally out of conduct, totally out of control, and that's the God's truth," Cassium told Judge Kosciolek.Kosciolek ruled there was enough evidence to send the case to Carbon County Court.
