Faith Alive Church

Faith Alive Church, 678 Pine St., Palmerton (Bowmanstown), continues holding worship each Sunday at 10:30 a.m. There are four options of worshipping: Worship in Sanctuary, must wear a mask, have temperature check, and social distancing required; worship in Leah’s Room with same rules as sanctuary; you may worship in the parking lot and tune to 104.3; or you may join on Facebook Live. Service is led by Pastor Rob Timlin Sr.

Every Wednesday at 7 p.m. is “Prayer & Service” with the same options of worshipping.

ABC Pantry could use donations of canned goods, vegetables and soups. Call the church if you are in need of food from the pantry. Call 610-852-2805.

The October Mission is Operation Christmas Child. This mission brings joy and hope to children in desperate situations around the world through the gift of filled shoe boxes and the Good News of God’s Love. Details on church website at www.faithalivechurch.com.

Faith Alive is celebrating Easter for the entire month of October. What is needed most of all right now is the Resurrection power of the risen Lord Jesus Christ to save us and send us out into the world with Good News that only Jesus can deliver in these bad new days. So Palm/Passion Sunday will be on Oct. 18 and Easter Resurrection on Oct. 25.

Breakfast

An all-you-can-eat breakfast will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday at the Bowmanstown Rod & Gun Club, 525 Club Road, Palmerton. Menu items include eggs to order, potatoes, pancakes, SOS, toast, cereal, hash, ham, bacon, sausage, OJ, coffee, tea and milk. Masks are required upon entering and moving about the building.

Palmerton Food Pantry

The CACPAC sponsored Palmerton Food Pantry will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2915 Fireline Road, Palmerton, on Oct. 23. The pantry supports residents of the Palmerton Area School District only and distributes food on the fourth Friday of every month from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Any changes to this schedule during the holiday season will be posted. The pantry is co-chaired by Barbara Brader and Ken Kaiser, who coordinate a team of volunteers who collect food, maintain inventory, and speed the distribution process on pantry day.

If you have an emergency and are in need of food please call 610-377-4768 or 610-509-0093. They will do their best to meet you at the pantry and see that you have food.

On pantry day please remain in your vehicle and follow instructions given by the volunteers. There is no need to preregister. If you are unable to attend, someone may pick up for you. The pantry is always in need of food, paper and personal care items. Donations may be dropped off at 452 and 459 Lafayette Ave., and 1002 Third St. Boxes are on the porches for donations.

Takeout meal

Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Trachsville, will have a takeout meal on Oct. 28 from 4-6 p.m. The meal is pork and sauerkraut with mashed potatoes, applesauce, a roll and butter, and rice or tapioca pudding for dessert.

Thanksgiving filling sale

Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Trachsville, will be have a Thanksgiving filling sale Nov. 24. This is fresh made, not frozen. Orders are due by Nov. 8. Please call 610-681-5200 or 610-681-5403. Pickup will be Nov. 24 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

PAMPA

The Palmerton Area Music Parents’ Association is pleased to be hosting the Palmerton Blue Bomber Marching Band Drive-in Performance. The event will be held Oct. 18 at 2 p.m. at Becky’s Drive-in, 4548 Lehigh Drive, Walnutport. This is a free event, open to the public, at a venue for easy social distancing. Gates open at 1:30 p.m. Rain date is Oct. 25. Come out and enjoy the performance.

Chinese auction

A Chinese auction fundraiser to benefit the Palmerton Police Department will be held Oct. 23 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Palmerton Community Ambulance Building, 501 Delaware Ave. Any donations of baskets, gift cards or baked goods would be appreciated. They can be dropped off at 2 p.m. the day of the event.

Blood drive reminder

Raising the House will be hosting a Miller-Keystone Blood Drive at the Palmerton Borough Park Oct. 17 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. via the bloodmobile coach.

Domestic Violence Awareness Month

October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. “An Empty Seat at the Table” is on display in the Palmerton Area Library. Community members are encouraged to view it and reflect on the impact of domestic violence.

Chalk the Walk

In conjunction with Domestic Violence Awareness Month, residents are invited to join in Chalk the Walk every Wednesday in October. Draw or write encouraging messages of awareness and hope on your driveway or sidewalk with chalk to promote awareness.
