Children's Health Fair scheduled

Blue Mountain Health System wants kids to be safe and healthy in their everyday activities.

To help students be the best they can be, the hospital is hosting its 25th annual Children's Health Fair on Friday, April 25, at the Lehighton Recreational center, Eighth and Iron streets, Lehighton. This year's theme is "Here Comes the Circus."The fair is geared toward students in preschool through second grade; however, individuals with younger children are welcome to attend. Three 1 1/2-hour sessions will be available. Sessions are 9-10:30 a.m., 10:45 a.m.-12:20 p.m., and 12:30-2 p.m.Mary Lou McGeehan, community education coordinator at Blue Mountain Health System, said that this year's topics will include poisons, yoga, bullying, tobacco and substance abuse prevention, fitness and exercise, nutrition, X-rays, self-esteem, stranger danger, heart health, animal safety and more.Participating agencies are BMHS Behavioral Health, Radiology, Nutritional Services, Lab, Physical Therapy, Black Lung, and Emergency Services; Pyramid Fitness Center; Carbon County Drug and Alcohol; Domestic Violence Services; AmeriHealth; Jim Thorpe Yoga; Penn State Master Gardeners; the Carbon County Sheriff's Office; Cancer Support Community of the Greater Lehigh Valley; and the office of state Rep.
