A motorist was injured late Friday night in a crash along Route 309 in West Penn Township.

The crash occurred just before midnight about a half mile south of Route 443. Apparently the male lost control rolling the unit onto its roof.

The victim was extricated from the wreckage by members of the West Penn Fire Company No. 1 and transported to an area trauma center.

West Penn fire police maintained traffic control at the scene, closing down the roadway and diverting traffic around the scene.

West Penn Police are investigating the incident.
