The investigation continues following a two-car crash Sunday afternoon in West Penn Township.
Township police Chief Brian Johnson said the incident occurred at 5:17 p.m. in the area of Route 309 by the South Tamaqua Plaza.
Johnson said that according to witnesses, a Jeep was traveling south when it crossed over the center and struck a silver Prius.
He said the witnesses said the Jeep came to rest on the shoulder of the southbound side.
Johnson said the female driver of the Jeep was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI, while the driver of the Prius was transported to St. Luke’s Miners Hospital.
He said EMS from Tamaqua and Lehighton assisted at the scene.
Johnson said Hope’s Towing removed the Jeep.
He said the investigation is pending.
