Northern Lehigh School Board, on an 8-0 vote, with Director Debra Bower absent, this week approved:

• The retirement of Catherine Grega from her position as middle school English teacher, effective the end of the work day Jan. 25. Grega will begin her retirement from the district after 37 years of service.• The retirement of Babette Guss from her position as high school English teacher, effective the end of the work day, Jan. 12. Guss worked for the district for 20 years.• The resignation of Jennifer Sheridan from her position as high school cook's helper, effective Jan. 2.• The appointment of Tayler Urban, temporary professional employee, as high school English teacher, replacing Guss, who retired, at the salary of $48,875, effective Jan. 13.• Megan Roberts, elementary, PreK-4, and Trevor Sherman, social studies, as substitute teachers for the 2016-17 school year.• Sheila White as substitute secretary/aide for the 2016-17 school year.• Jodi Nankivell and Christina Tedaldi as substitute cafeteria workers for the 2016-17 school year.• Granted Krystle-Dawn Tiedeman permission to attend the Pennsylvania School Librarians Association Annual Conference March 30-April 1, at the Hershey Lodge & Convention Center, Hershey, with the cost of registration $245, and lodging, $382, for a cost of $627, to be funded from the high school library budget.• Announced that Athletic Director Bryan Geist has been named ESPN Radio and Morning Call Athletic Director of the Year.• Approved a resolution that recognizes January as School Board Director Recognition Month.
