Police report on Carbon crashes

State police at Lehighton reported investigating the following crashes on Carbon County roadways.

• A two-vehicle crash was reported at 10:35 a.m. on Sept. 20 along Koch Road in Towamensing Township. Troopers said Shawn R. Wright, 25, of Bethlehem, was driving a 2008 Freightliner tractor with trailer southbound and came to a stop. Anthony M. Vasiliou, 65, of Jim Thorpe, was southbound driving a 2007 Cadillac DTS. Wright then began to began to back up. Vasiliou attempted to move away from the truck but his vehicle was struck by Wright’s truck.

A passenger with Vasiliou, Bonnie L. Vasiliou, 56, same address, sustained a head injury and was taken to the St. Luke’s-Lehighton campus by Lehighton ambulance. No one else was injured. The Cadillac was towed.

Wright was cited for the crash.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 5:22 p.m. on Sept. 26 along Hahns Dairy Road in Lower Towamensing Township. Troopers said Danielle A. Colombraro, 23, of Albrightsville, was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer westbound and approaching the intersection with Spruce Hollow Road and negotiating a right hand curve when she swerved to avoid a deer on the road. Colombraro lost control of the vehicle which crossed into the eastbound lane and onto the shoulder where it struck a tree on the passenger side.

Colombraro sustained minor injuries but refused medical treatment. Her passenger, a 2-year-old boy, was not injured. The vehicle sustained major damages and was towed.

Colombraro was cited for driving a vehicle at a unsafe speed.
