A Montgomery County man was sentenced to a state prison term on Monday after a jury previously found him guilty of seven drug counts, including delivery.

Christian Edward Geyer, 32, of Perkiomenville, was sentenced to serve 18 to 36 months in state correctional institution of Senior Judge Leonard N. Zito of Northampton County and specially presiding.A jury panel found Geyer guilty of three counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, two counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count each of criminal conspiracy-possession with intent to delivery and possession of drug paraphernalia.Geyer never testified at the trial and his co-defendant invoked her Fifth Amendment rights when called and declined to testify.Geyer was charged by Franklin Township police for his part in the sale of crystal methamphetamine to a confidential informant. Agents of the state Attorney General's office, along with the county drug task force, set up a sale on July 7, 2016, along Long Run Road in Franklin Township.The co-defendant in the case, Mary E. Troxell, 25, who listed addresses in Lansford and Tamaqua, pleaded guilty to her part on Oct. 24, 2016. She was sentenced on Dec. 13, 2016, to serve three to a day less 24 months in the county prison. Troxell was the driver of a van and Geyer the passenger when the transaction was made. Police stopped the vehicle a short time after the sale was completed.Zito imposed the prison term concurrently on all the counts.Geyer was also ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and supply a DNA sample.He was given credit for 278 days spent in jail to date on the charges.Gets probationIn another drug-related sentencing proceeding a Palmerton man was placed on probation for 24 months on a charge of possession with intent to deliver-heroin.Leonard Joseph Castiglioni, 26, of Palmerton, previously pleaded to the charge.He was arrested on March 2, 2016, following an investigation by Palmerton police and the Attorney General's office. Police set up a controlled buy using a confidential informant. Police said Castiglioni sold heroin to the CI between March 2 and 6. A total of 10 packets of heroin was sold to the CI.Zito noted that Castiglioni had no prior record and he would go along with the recommendation of the adult probation office in imposing a probationary sentence.Castiglioni was also ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation.Both defendants must also pay court costs of about $1,000. Castiglioni must also pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation.
