A Carbon County man admitted to assaulting his girlfriend.
He was one of seven defendants in pending criminal cases to enter a guilty plea on Thursday in the county court before President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II.Stephen Joseph Palmer Jr., 48, of Nesquehoning, pleaded to one count of simple assault.He was arrested on April 11 when Lehighton police responded to 231 S. Second St. for a reported domestic incident. The female victim told police that her boyfriend, Palmer, was drinking beer all day and assaulted her and also made threats to her. It was noted that the woman has obtained a protection from abuse order against Palmer.Palmer told Nanovic he was addressing alcohol and mental health problems. He is undergoing counseling for both problems.Nanovic placed him on probation for 18 months and ordered he get drug and alcohol and mental health evaluations, continue his counseling sessions and zero tolerance for drug or alcohol use.
