Two people who previously pleaded to driving under the influence charges were sentenced on Friday in Carbon County court.

Judge Joseph J. Matika imposed sentences on the following:John Patrick Garrett, 49, of Tamaqua, was sentenced to serve 30 days in the county prison followed by 59 months in the county's Intermediate Punishment Program - house arrest - with the first 60 days spent on electronic monitoring.Garrett was arrested on July 4, 2015, by Nesquehoning police along Route 209 after he was found operating a vehicle with a flat tire. He refused to submit to a chemical test.Matika ordered he pay a fine of $1,500, suspended his license for 18 months and imposed zero tolerance for drug or alcohol use.He will begin the jail term at 6 p.m. Nov. 25 and serve the 30 days on consecutive two-day weekends. The IPP will be supervised by Schuylkill County.John Matthew Cambria-Raygoza, 29, of Nesquehoning, was sentenced to serve 30 days to six months in prison.He was arrested on March 10, 2014, along Market Street by Nesquehoning police who responded to a reported hit-and-run. Police said Cambria-Raygoza fled the scene of the crash but was later located. A test showed 0.15 BAC.He was also ordered to pay a fine of $750, his license was suspended for a year and he must render 25 hours of community service. On a charge of accidents involving damage to unattended vehicle was placed on probation for a year concurrent with the DUI charge.He was given credit for 34 days and paroled.Both defendants must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole.
