National Night Out

Last year's celebration of National Night Out included a fireworks display as part of the Dear Tamaqua presentation. With the razzle and dazzle exploding from the north and the south mountains, the display proved to be spectacular, visible from almost every part of the borough. This year's event will be held Aug. 2 and will again include the Tamaqua Salvation Army's Kidz Karnival. While NNO organizers will not be presenting another Dear Tamaqua event, they do hope to repeat the fireworks display and have set a goal of raising $5,000."In a borough of 7,000 people, if everyone just donated $1, our goal would be accomplished in no time," says Leona Rega, NNO organizer and director of the Tamaqua Community Arts Center.Volunteers are also needed for the Aug. 2 event. For more information, contact Rega at 570-668-1192 or stop in at the art center, 125 Pine St., Tamaqua.Tamaqua seniorsThe Tamaqua Senior Citizens met May 12 with 54 members in attendance.
