The Tamaqua Board of Health held its August meeting at the Tamaqua Municipal Building with Rosemarie Noftz, Earl Boettger, Christine Zizelmann R.N., Shirley Becker and health enforcement officer Ken Fenstermacher in attendance.Fenstermacher reported receiving three trash complaints and condemning one property as unfit for human habitation.He also updated the number of health licenses issued this year. The total is now 56. One business failed inspection.There were no cases of reportable diseases in July.Rush-Ryan seniorsThe Rush, Ryan and Delano Senior Citizens Inc. met Aug. 9 at the Ryan Township Fire Company in Barnesville with 51 members and one guest, Donna Yost, in attendance. The business session was conducted by President Bill Morrison.Ruthann Feane provided the invocation, "This Day is Just Too Perfect."Birthday wishes were extended to Mary Ann Laughlin, and Hub and Shirley Becker were congratulated on their 47th anniversary.Morrison appointed a committee to review the bylaws.Upcoming events include: Sept. 6, Hollywood Casino in Hershey; Sept. 26, Bloomsburg Fair; and Nov. 15 to Samson in Lancaster.Refreshments were served.The group meets the second and fourth Tuesday of every month. The next meeting will be held Aug. 23.Anyone 55 or older is welcome to join.St. Peter's UnionSunday worship services are held at 9 a.m. in St. Peter's Union Church in Mantzville. Summer Sunday school is held at 10:15 a.m.Activities for next week include: Monday, softball games at 6:45 and 8 p.m.; Tuesday, prayer group meets at 5 p.m.St. John LutheranThe Rev. Phyllis Wolford will officiate at the 9:15 a.m. worship service this Sunday in St. John's Lutheran Church.The bell choir reorganizational meeting has been rescheduled for Sept. 4, after the worship service.Regular office hours, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday through Friday, will resume next week.Zion LewistownPastor Jim Williams will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Zion Church of the Lewistown Valley.Sunday school classes meet at 9:15 a.m.Bible study sessions are held at 12:30 p.m. Thursdays.The church picnic is scheduled for Aug. 28 at Leiby's Grove.Contact Kathy Kunkel at 570-668-1250 or
