With the spring Little League season right around the corner, Pleasant Valley Presbyterian Church trustee Bill Campbell is on a mission to get the ball fields back in shape.

The baseball and softball fields located behind the Brodheadsville chu-rch were heavily damaged by a group of teenagers who were joy riding on the grass onFeb. 10."Although some of the cost of repairs will fall upon the teenagers that came forward to confess to damaging the fields and hillside, not everyone involved has come forward," Campbell's statement on GoFundMe said."Therefore, some of the cost will fall upon the offenders, and the remainder upon PVPC. We are hoping that our community will rally to support us in this effort to support our youth Little League."Campbell said that the initial repair estimates were in the $12,000-plus range, with the church expecting to pay around $3,300 for its portion. Thankfully, Campbell said that a second appraisal brought the total down to about $8,000. He changed the fundraising goal for the church's portion to $2,200.Although the teenagers involved in the incident could have been charged with felonies, Campbell and the church chose to handle the matter internally. In addition to the fines for field repairs, the teenagers will be responsible for some community service work, the details of which have yet to be determined."We didn't want to wreck their lives. As long as they were willing to work with us, we were fine with that," Campbell said.As of now, the cause has raised $1,225, including an anonymous donation of $1,000.
