Terrance P. McCall, Lansford tax collector, has announced his candidacy for a full four-year term of that office. He is seeking the Democratic Party's nomination in the May 16 primary election.

A lifelong resident of Lansford, McCall was appointed to the position in February 2016. He is fulfilling the unexpired term of longtime tax collector Daniel J. Wynn, who retired."I am thankful to the members of the Lansford Borough Council for appointing me to the position last year," McCall said. "It gave me the opportunity to learn what is becoming an ever-changing job. I have worked long and hard to meet the needs of our residents, as well as professionals needing tax information for their work."McCall said one of the big changes in the tax collection process will be office hours he adjusted to meet the needs of the residents, including having nighttime, weekend and even Sunday hours. "With people's busy schedules, I have found that being open at night gives residents the flexibility to pay their taxes after their work day. I plan to be accessible to them, especially during peak collection periods, to make their lives easier, and will continue to receive taxes on an appointment basis for anyone who may have difficulty getting to my office," he said.A son of Carbon County Recorder of Deeds Emmett P. McCall of Lansford, and the late Mary Ellen (Sniscak) McCall, Terry is a graduate of the former St. Ann's Parochial School, Lansford, and Marian High School, Hometown.He is a financial counselor for St. Luke's University Health System - Miners Campus, Coaldale.The candidate is a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church of the Panther Valley, Summit Hill.McCall is currently the vice president of the Lansford Democratic Club and a member of the Carbon County Democratic Executive Committee.He is also a member of the Lansford Pool Committee.Terry was a Catholic Youth Organization basketball coach for 17 years, having volunteered at the former Our Lady of the Valley and Our Lady of the Angels schools, Lansford and Summit Hill.
