When a loved one dies, there is no "getting over it," just finding a way to deal with the loss.

On Sept. 11, 2001, the families of almost 3,000 people had to find ways to deal with their personal losses, while the rest of the United States looked for ways to help. The country stood united amid an outpouring of support.It's been 15 years since that day when radicals brought terrorism to America's shores and some may wonder if time has dimmed those memories and lessened that support.Not in Tamaqua.Tamaqua's South Ward Playground Association will continue its tradition of sponsoring Tamaqua's 9/11 Remembrance Service.Originally organized by Cecilia "Jackie" Jones and her family, the memorial service is now being organized by Jones' daughters, Shelley Bonser and Michelle Mehallic.Former Tamaqua Mayor Richard Hadesty will serve as the master of ceremonies. Guest speakers include: Pastor Ed Noftz of New Life Assembly Church, Tamaqua Mayor Chris Morrison, Major Sharon Whispell of the Salvation Army, Rubina Tareen, Jack Kulp, Joe Butrie, U.S. Air Force Major Joe Denning III and Tonia Barron of the U.S. Army.Musical selections will be offered by a vocal ensemble and Donna Frye. A representative of the Tamaqua Volunteer Fire Department will provide "The Fireman's Prayer."The event will be held at 6 p.m. Sundayat the playground, located at Penn and Oak streets in Tamaqua. The public is welcome. Seating is limited, so participants are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs.
