It will cost Tamaqua Area School District $115,000 to repair a loading dock at one of its elementary schools.

On a 6-0 vote, the school board on Tuesday agreed to have the dock at West Penn Elementary School repaired by S.J. Thomas Co., of Lansdowne, Delaware County. Directors Thomas Rottet, Mark Rother and Eileen Meiser were absent.Chief Operations Officer Ken Dunkelberger said the asphalt project is in the rear/loading dock delivery area of the building.Dunkelberger said the area has deteriorated over the past 30 years, as a majority of the location is dirt, which prohibits delivery when wet.The repair area is about 10,000 square feet, and the project will be paid for from out of the district's repair budget.Folding cafeteria tablesAlso on Tuesday the board agreed to purchase 26 folding cafeteria tables from Singer Equipment Company, a state contract, in the amount of $25,582.Dunkelberger said the tables will replace broken ones that range in age from 25 to 30 years old.The tables will be distributed in both West Penn Elementary School, and Tamaqua Elementary School, he said.They will be paid for from the cafeteria budget, Dunkelberger said.Other action• Approved the resignation of Lauren Pavalko, part-time paraprofessional, effective March 3.• Appointed Pam Kelly as a part-time paraprofessional.• Granted permission for the 2017 Senior Prom to be held at Capriotti's on May 6.• Granted Lawrence M.
