Multiple fire companies responded to a dwelling fire in Penn Forest Township Thursday night.

The fire broke out at around 6 p.m. at 140 Parker Trail, Albrightsville, in Towamensing Trails, according to Dave Vukovic, fire chief, Penn Forest Volunteer Fire Company No. 2.Upon arrival, Vukovic said firefighters encountered a kitchen grease fire caused by cooking.Vukovic said the dwelling sustained severe fire damage in the kitchen and surrounding areas, as well as smoke damage in the bedrooms.He said one person was home at the time, but did not sustain any injuries.The home is not livable right now, Vukovic said.Vukovic said it took less than an hour to knock down the fire, but firefighters were on scene for about 2 to 2½ hours.Also assisting at the scene were Penn Forest Volunteer Fire Company No. 1, Albrightsville Fire Company, Polk Township Fire Company, Tunkhannock Township Volunteer Fire Company, Lehigh & Lausanne Rural Volunteer Fire Company, and Lehighton Ambulance.
