West Penn Township residents will not see an increase in their municipal property tax rates next year.

On a unanimous vote, the township's board of supervisors on Monday agreed to grant final adoption to the 2017 budget with no increase.That means the property tax rate will remain unchanged at 4.75 mills.Last month, the board agreed on a 2-1 vote to increase the local service tax from $10 to $52, which will only affect people who are employed in the township.Raising the LST will generate about an additional $23,000 for the township.Supervisor Tony Prudenti said at that time the board was able to save $28,000 on benefits and insurance for police, as well as $17,000 by switching around insurances.Also on Monday, supervisors announced the board will hold its reorganization meeting at 6 p.m. Jan. 3, with the regular monthly meeting to follow at 7 p.m.
