Man caught speeding, driving without license

A Lansford man is facing multiple charges after he was caught speeding with a suspended license, had a warrant out for his arrest and had drugs in the car.

Wade Anthony Matika, 25, of East Patterson Street, was charged with speeding, driving without a license and possessing drugs and drug paraphernalia.According to an affidavit, filed by Nesquehoning Police officer Richard Neikam, on March 1, police were monitoring traffic along Route 93 when Neikam observed a car traveling at 72 mph in a 55 mph zone.He stopped the car and identified the driver as Matika.When he ran Matika's information through the Carbon County Communications Center, it came back that he was wanted out of the adult probation office and that his license had been suspended for previous DUIs.Neikam requested Weatherly police assist at the scene and took Matika into custody.During the search of the vehicle, Weatherly police found marijuana in a jacket pocket.Following the arrest, Matika was taken to the Carbon County Correctional Facility.He waived his preliminary hearing before District Judge Casimir Kosciolek on April 5 and charges have been bound over for court and bail was set at $1,000 unsecured.A formal arraignment has been scheduled for May 9.
