Five people who previously pleaded guilty to driving under the influence charges were sentenced on Monday in Carbon County court by Judge Steven R. Serfass.

Chasity Elizabeth Reed, 22, of Tresckow, was sentenced to serve 30 days in the county prison followed by 59 months in the county's Intermediate Punishment Program (house arrest) with the first 60 days on electronic monitoring. She was also ordered to pay a fine of $1,500, her license was suspended for 18 months and she must render a total of 150 hours of community service. On a charge of possession of a controlled substance she was placed on probation for a year, concurrent with the DUI term.She was arrested on June 20, 2015, by state police at Hazleton along Tresckow Road in Banks Township. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.She will begin the jail term at 9 a.m. March 4 and serve it on consecutive two-day weekends of Saturday through Monday.Joseph John Bulvich, 48, of Northampton, was sentenced to serve 30 days in the county prison followed by 59 months in the IPP with the first 60 days on electronic monitoring. He was ordered to pay a fine of $1,500, his license was suspended for 18 months and he must render a total of 150 hours of community service. On a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia he was placed on probation for a year, concurrent with the DUI count.He was arrested on March 22, 2016, along Route 895 in Bowmanstown by state police at Lehighton. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.He began the jail term at 6 p.m.Monica Marie Brown, 27, of Stafford, Virginia, and formerly of Lehighton, was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000 and one-year license suspension. He must also render a total of 75 hours of community service. On a charge of possession of a controlled substance she was placed on probation for a year, consecutive to the DUI count.She was arrested on Sept. 24, 2015, along First Street by Lehighton police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.Brown is currently serving a prison term in Schuylkill County which runs out in March. Serfass ruled his sentence run consecutive to the one in Schuylkill County.Brad Edward Sutton, 38, of Allentown, was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000 and his license suspended for a year. On a summary offense he was fined $25 and costs.He was arrested on Feb. 27, 2015, along Bridge Street in Lehighton by state police at Lehighton. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.He was given credit for six days spent in jail on the charge and paroled.Sutton is currently an inmate in the state correctional institution at Dallas serving a one- to two-year term.Brad Wood, 27, of Springville, Susquehanna County, was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000, license suspended for a year and render 25 hours of community service.He was arrested on Sept. 29, 2012, along the Sgt. Stanley Hoffman Boulevard by Lehighton police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance. He was previously placed in the county's Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program but was revoked for violating conditions.He will begin the jail term at 5 p.m. on March 10.Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000, a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole and follow all recommendations of their drug and alcohol evaluation.
