William F. Carroll of Jim Thorpe was honored Sunday for a lifetime of service to his church and community.

Known throughout the county seat borough as “Mr. Knight of Columbus,” he was a most deserving recipient of a number of awards during a testimonial banquet held in Memorial Hall.

Sharing the tributes with him was his wife, the former Angeline Moyer, and members of his family.

Monsignor Joseph Dooley, pastor of St. Rocco’s Church, Martins Creek, was the guest speaker, crediting the 88-year-old resident of 818 North St. with a “remarkable record of achievement,” including over 70 years of dedicated service to the Knights organization.
