Several defendants didn't bother to appear for their preliminary hearings before District Judge Stephen Bayer on Nov. 29, including a McAdoo man who was charged in three different cases.

Robert Matthew Wills, 35, of 535 S. Kennedy Drive, was due in court in connection with a July 27 incident, in which he was charged with criminal attempt to commit theft by deception. That charge was filed by McAdoo Patrolman Frederick Lahovski.The other two cases were: defiant trespass by communication on Oct. 19, filed by McAdoo patrolman William Curilla; and criminal mischief and disorderly conduct on Oct. 20, filed by McAdoo Police Chief Jeffrey Wainwright.A warrant was issued for Wills' arrest.Kevin Joseph Siegfried, 23, of 535 S. Kennedy Drive, McAdoo, didn't make it to court to answer to charges of access device fraud, criminal attempt to commit access device fraud, criminal attempt to commit theft by unlawful taking, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and theft from a motor vehicle. The charges were filed by Kline Township Police Chief John Petrilla after an Oct. 18 incident.A warrant was issued for Siegfried's arrest.Luis M. Tineo, 21, of 120 S. Poplar St., Hazleton, was due in court on charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating a vehicle without a valid inspection, driving with a suspended license and driving without the required headlights. The charges were filed by McAdoo patrolman Curilla after a Sept. 23 incident.A warrant was issued for Tineo's arrest.Judith Arlene Allen, 60, of 118 N. Railroad St., Tamaqua, was also a no show. She was charged with retail theft, providing false identification to law enforcement and public drunkenness by Tamaqua Patrolman Jeremy Sborz after an Aug. 18 incident.A warrant was issued for her arrest.Defendants who did appear but waived their preliminary hearings to Schuylkill County Court were:Matthew Robert Lasky, 22, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia by Coaldale patrolman Dane O'Brien following an Oct. 19 incident.Lasky was released on his own recognizance.Thomas Gaughan, 54, 23 S. Kennedy Drive, McAdoo, was charged with defiant trespass and disorderly conduct by McAdoo patrolman Anthony DiVirgilio after a Sept. 18 incident.Gaughan was released on his own recognizance.Dylan D. Smolar, 21, of 34 Chain Circle Drive, New Ringgold, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and retail theft after a Nov. 4 incident. the charges were filed by Tamaqua patrolman Anthony Stanell.Smolar was released on his own recognizance.Shawn William Johnson, 31, of 221 Pine St., Tamaqua, was charged with manufacture of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia by Tamaqua patrolman Jeremy Sborz. The charges stem from an Oct. 9 incident.Johnson was released on $25,000 percentage bail.
