The cause of a fire that ravaged a Mahoning Township barn Saturday afternoon remains undetermined.
Mahoning Valley Volunteer Fire Company Fire Chief Mark Ebbert said firefighters responded to the scene in the 1300 block of Packerton Dam Drive after 2 p.m.Upon arrival, Ebbert said the barn was fully involved. There was one occupant at home, as the barn was located to the side about 150 feet away from the home.He said the homeowner was not injured, but that one fireman did sustain an ankle injury. The fire was called in by neighbors, Ebbert said.Firefighters had the fire knocked down within the hour, but due to the remote location, water had to be tanked in by tanker trucks, he said. Also assisting at the scene were the Franklin Township Fire Company, East Penn Township Fire Company, Jim Thorpe Fire Company, Lehighton Fire Company, Lehighton Ambulance, and Mahoning Township Police.
