Area businesses cited by PLCB

Two TIMES NEWS area businesses have been cited by the state liquor control board for liquor code violations.

Johnnies Restaurant of New York, 111 N. First St., Lehighton, was cited by the Wilkes-Barre enforcement office for sold, furnished and/or gave or permitted such sale, furnishing or giving of alcoholic beverages to a minor.The violation allegedly occurred on May 4.The Christopher Columbus Society, doing business as the Italian Club, located at the corner of Schuylkill Avenue and Mauch Chunk streets., Tamaqua, was cited by the Allentown enforcement office for allowing music from inside the premises to be heard beyond the property line.The violation allegedly occurred on Jan. 11.These charges will be brought before an administrative law judge who has the authority to impose penalties ranging from $50 to $1,000 for minor offenses and up to $5,000 for more serious ones.In addition, the judge can also impose a license suspension or revocatioin of the license based on the severity of the charge brought.
