Tamaqua gets new welcome sign

The north side of Tamaqua is sporting a new look.

Travelers and residents will now be greeted by the storied blue and white colors when entering the town from route 309, as a brand-new welcome sign was recently constructed.

“It was my idea to put these ups, because the other ones were getting beat up,” said councilman Tom Cara.

“Ron Bowman said it’d be nice if we made it blue instead of green, and the beauty of the sign is in the color. Tory (Graver) had the idea to put the boulders around it and it looks great. Our borough workers put the cement posts in.”

Now, both the north and south entrances to the town have modern, sleek new signs.

“We plan on having signs at each entrance of the community,” Cara said. “Hopefully, we’ll be able to get other sponsors. If someone wanted to step up, they could just call the borough and see what the cost is and how to go about it.”

The new sign on the north side is sponsored by Seitz Bros. and the landscaping around it was done by Graver’s Landscaping Design LLC.

“There was a project up here at the end of town, they wanted to put another sign in and they were looking for someone to pay for it. We ended up standing up, sponsoring the sign and teaming up with Graver’s. I think it turned out pretty nice,” Brian Seitz said.

“We’re very proud to be a part of Tamaqua, located right here on 309. It’s good to do something like this, a small part, to keep the town clean and make it look pretty where people come in, we’re glad to do it,” Seitz said.

“Tamaqua is a great place to raise your family and own a business. There’s a lot of good things happening and a lot of good people.”
