The Route 903 park was the topic of disussion this week at Penn Forest Township supervisors.

Recreation board members Rick Tweed and Rich Strack addressed the supervisors regarding a number of issues.One of the issues surrounded the need for scoreboards and the board's request to permit it to pursue sponsorships to pay for the boards.Another matter was a request to plan a travel baseball tournament to take place in conjunction with the Jim Thorpe Little League. The tournament would take place in September.The board also requested permission to start a restricted access Facebook page.The supervisors agreed to the requests providing that the committee continue to keep the supervisors informed on all matters.The committee also sought approval for a Massing of the Colors to be heldin honor of Flag Day in June at the park.The supervisors agreed to permit the committee to plan the event which will include a flag ceremony and a speaker.The township is also proceeding on preparing a bid package for the concession stand, septic system and safety lighting for the park.Supervisor Scott Lignore agreed to volunteer as general contractor on the concession stand construction to save the township money.With Supervisor Judith Knappenberger out sick, the supervisors tied on a vote to permit a piece of Kidder Township land into the township's Agricultural Security Area.Supervisor Roger Meckes and Lignore voted yes on a resolution that would permit the township to add land from outside the township into the ASA. Chairman Warren Reiner and Supervisor Christine Fazio voted no. With no supervisor to break the tie, the resolution died.
