Schuylkill district attorney announces re-election bid
Schuylkill County District Attorney Christine A. Holman is seeking a second term, with a priority of keeping the people and families of Schuylkill County safe.
Holman has continually fought the war on drugs, helped local municipalities eradicate blight, and protected our senior citizens and our children.Holman has worked with law enforcement in multiple drug raids, expanded the Schuylkill County Drug Task Force, highlighted Schuylkill County's Most Wanted list and partnered with the Republican Herald newspaper. Thanks to this, many of our citizens identified fugitives in our communities, who were then returned to the criminal justice system. Holman has also conducted coroner's inquests in unresolved deaths so families have closure.Holman is the first district attorney to take a proactive role in the fight against blight in our communities. She has formed an anti-blight task force known as ABATE (Anti-Blight Action Team & Enforcement), consisting of state, county and local officials. Holman has also held educational seminars for code enforcement officials and is the first district attorney to prosecute negligent property owners of public nuisance charges.Holman has worked diligently to reach out to Schuylkill County senior citizens, routinely visiting senior citizen groups to speak and hear their concerns. Her office has produced "Scams and Solutions," a booklet offering tips to senior citizens and nonprofit organizations on how to avoid becoming a victim of fraud.Holman is a member of Schuylkill Elder Abuse Prevention Alliance, Pottsville Kiwanis, and many other organizations. A graduate of North Schuylkill High School, she studied marketing at Penn State, then attended the Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Michigan. Before her election as the first female district attorney in January 2014, she served as an assistant district attorney for four years, and had a successful private law practice in Frackville.Holman resides in Barnesville, Ryan Township, with her husband, Champ, and daughter Jacqueline Pitts. She has two stepchildren, David Holman and his wife, Theresa, and Jessica Kowalchick and her husband, John. She also has four grandchildren, Ava and J. D. Kowalchick and Vienna and Max Holman.
