The annual Tamaqua Halloween Parade, sponsored by the Tamaqua Lions Club and the Tamaqua Chamber of Commerce, is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday, with a rain date ofOct. 26.For more information on the parade, call 570-668-1880.The Tamaqua High School Leadership Club will sponsor a Safe Halloween Night from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 27, at the Tamaqua Senior High School.The Tamaqua Salvation Army, 105 W. Broad St., will sponsor a Halloween Dance/Social, from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 29. Reservation deadline will be Oct. 26.Zion Lutheran Church, Greenwood and Mauch Chunk Streets, will host Trunk or Treat from 2 to 4 p.m. on Oct. 30. This is open to children between the ages of 2 and 10. For more information, call 570-668-4451.Tamaqua's Trick or Treat Night will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Oct. 31. Several churches will be handing out treats, including St. John United Church of Christ, Bethany Evangelical Congregational and Trinity United Church of Christ.Soup socialThis month's community soup social at Trinity United Church of Christ will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. onNov. 5in the social hall.The meal is free to the public and everyone is welcome to enjoy the soup, desserts, refreshments and time with friends.For more information or to volunteer, stop by the church at 22 Lafayette St., or call 570-668-4139.Tamaqua seniorsThe Tamaqua Senior Citizens met Oct. 13 with 56 members in attendance. Vice President Nancy Gerber conducted the business session.The inspirational reading "October Days" was offered by the chaplain. A moment of silence was held in memory of Theresa Dunkelberger.Jane Tarter was added to the sick list.Kerry Lasky will be the guest speaker at the Oct. 20 meeting, which will include lunch at noon.The group is open to anyone 55 or older. Meetings are held at 1 p.m. Thursdays at the Tamaqua YMCA, 1201 E. Broad St.Bethany ECThe Rev. Kevin Roberts will officiate at the 8 and 10:30 a.m. worship services this Sunday in Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church.
