A Tamaqua woman pleaded guilty to driving under the influence and to her ninth driving under suspension charge last week.

She was one of eight defendants in pending DUI cases to enter a guilty plea before Judge Steven R. Serfass.Samantha Lynn Wagenhurst, 33, was arrested on March 2 along Delaware Avenue in Palmerton by state police at Lehighton.At the time of the stop, she was driving with a suspended license.Troopers also said she was driving under the influence of a controlled substance. A records check showed that she had eight prior convictions for driving while under suspension.Wagenhurst is currently an inmate in the Montgomery County prison serving a sentence for a probation/parole violation. She also has a detainer lodged against her by Northampton County on other criminal counts.On the suspension count, Serfass sentenced her to serve 30 days to six months in jail and a fine of $1,000. On the DUI charge, she was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, concurrent with the first count, a fine of $1,000, one year license suspension, and render 25 hours of community service when released on parole.
