In less than one school year the Weatherly Area District will have to replace its third administrative board position.

During Wednesday's voting meeting the Weatherly School Board had to accept the resignation of David Marsiglio, the district's business manager and board secretary.Marsiglio will finish his six years of working at the district at the beginning of June.The longtime business manager was offered a job in the Bloomsburg district for next school year.The board will advertise for a replacement immediately.Middle and high school Principal Amanda Zaremba resigned after just one week into the school year. She was replaced by Anthony DeSpirito.The second administrator to resign was Superintendent and elementary Principal Thomas McLaughlin who was hired as the human resources director for Palmerton Area School District.He was replaced midyear by Teresa Young.In other personnel business, the board approved a contract with Soliant Health for a school psychologist for they 2017-18 year. The contract comes after the district had to replace Mary Kay Writer, who had served as the student psychologist for the district, but resigned this year to work in Palmerton's district in the same capacity.The district also continues to search for a middle/high school science teacher.The board voted to cancel its transportation contract with Vogel Bus Company during the voting meeting.According to board member and transportation committee member, Gerard Grega, the transportation change comes amid budget concerns.The amount listed for student transportation in the proposed 2016-17 district budget is listed at $887,751 which includes staff salaries and supplies.Grega said the state is giving less money for transportation reimbursements."And we are tightening up contracts. We would've had two years left with Vogel," he said.The board voted 7 to 1 in favor the change. Amy Potsko, board vice president and chair of the transportation committee was against the change while board member Brandon Pugh was absent from the meeting.Vogel had been transporting students in the borough since late 1950s. A plaque honoring its founder, Ken Vogel, was placed in the Weatherly Elementary School lobby after an honorary dinner held in 2012 for his years of dedication to the district.The board announced its district's snow makeup days and graduation date. Students will continue attending school until June 8, with senior graduation scheduled for June 9.
