A portrait of Sen. David G. Argall (R-Schuylkill/Berks) painted by world-renowned portrait artist Stephen Bennett of Tamaqua will hang at the Hawk Mountain Scout Reservation in Wayne Township.

Bennett painted the portrait of Argall at the Leadercast 2016 event in May at the Tamaqua Community Arts Center. Bennett participated in a live painting session and was asked to paint a portrait of leadership."It's clear why Stephen Bennett made that choice," Micah Gursky, Executive Director of Tamaqua Area Community Partnership and member of Borough Council, said. "When people think of leadership in our community, they think of Dave Argall."Bennett donated the portrait to be displayed or auctioned off by the Arts Center. An anonymous donor purchased the portrait to be placed at the Hawk Mountain Council in recognition of Senator Argall's leadership with the Boy Scouts.Argall, an Eagle Scout and Silver Beaver Award winner, has remained active in Scouting for 40 years. While serving in various volunteer roles with the Boy Scouts of America, including Scoutmaster, Argall has worked with Scouts all over the world, literally from a small group of Cub Scouts including his son in his backyard to New Mexico, Canada, and Bavaria. In 2014, the National Eagle Scout Association presented him with the Outstanding Eagle Scout Award for "distinguished service to his profession and community."Scouting has become a long tradition in the Senator's family. His grandfather, Arthur Argall, was a Scoutmaster in Middleport in the 1930s. His son, AJ, and his brother Doug also earned their Eagle Scout awards in Tamaqua."Organizations that focus on volunteerism and civic duty are part of the fabric of our communities, and their considerable efforts make our region stronger and a better place to live," Argall said."Scouting has always been about a team effort and I'm happy to execute my role on that team."
