The Tamaqua Area High School Drama Club is busy rehearsing Bernard J. Taylor's musical adaptation of "Pride and Prejudice," a novel written by Jane Austen. The musical will be presented onNov. 18 andNov. 19. There will be one show, at 7 p.m., on Friday, and shows at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday.All shows will be in the district auditorium on Penn Street.TEPTOThe Tamaqua Elementary Parent Teacher Organization will meet at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 9 in the school library. This is a change in date as the organization usually meets on a Tuesday.The meeting will include an election of officers.Soup socialThe November community soup social at Trinity United Church of Christ will be held from 4-6 p.m. Saturdayin the social hall.The meal is free to the public and everyone is welcome to enjoy the soup, desserts, refreshments and time with friends.For more information or to volunteer, stop by the church at 22 Lafayette St., or call 570-668-4139.Rush-Ryan seniorsThe Rush, Ryan and Delano Senior Citizens Inc. met Oct. 25 at the Ryan Township Fire Company with 56 members in attendance. President Bill Morrison conducted the business session. The chaplain offered an inspirational reading titled "Our Friend."Birthday wishes were offered to Ruthann Feane, Betty Brobst, Jane Tarter, Rose Vallee and Joyce Krell.A discussion was held on a planned Nov. 2 bus trip to the Mohegan Sun Casino.The group meets the second and fourth Tuesday of every month.Anyone 55 or older is welcome to join.Calvary EvangelicalThe Rev. Phillip Sabas will officiate at the 10:25 a.m. worship service this Sunday school Rally Sunday in Calvary Evangelical Methodist Church in the Lewistown Valley. The service will include skits, special music, puppet shows and more.Sunday school classes will be held at 9:15 a.m.An hour of praise and prayer is held at 7 p.m. Wednesdays.St. Peter's UnionSunday worship services are held at 9 a.m. in St. Peter's Union Church in Mantzville. This week's service will include Holy Communion and the observance of All Saints Day. Sunday school classes meet at 10:15 a.m.Also on Sunday, the Confirmation class will meet at 10:30 a.m.; St. Luke's Service of Remembrance will be at 3 p.m.; Cub and Girl Scouts meet at 6 p.m.Activities for next week include: Tuesday, newsletter deadline, prayer group meets at 5 p.m., worship and music committee meet at 6 p.m.; Wednesday, retirees meet at 10 a.m.; Thursday, junior choir practices at 7 p.m., senior choir rehearsal is at 7:30 p.m.Veterans will be recognized at the 9 a.m. service on Nov. 13.Zion LewistownPastor Jim Williams will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Zion Church of the Lewistown Valley.
