Sean said "my five other teammates became my best friends ever." Owen said "thank you for funding it."Mary Brumbach, principal of S.S. Palmer Elementary and Parkside Education Center, praised the students for their impressive achievement."This is the first time Sixth Sense in Palmerton took first place," Brumbach said. "It's really awesome."The event was held Monday evening at Panther Valley High School. The competition included teams from Palmerton, Panther Valley, Northern Lehigh, Lehighton, Jim Thorpe, Tamaqua, Pleasant Valley, and Northwestern Lehigh school districts. Also on Tuesday, the board heard a presentation from resident Michelle O'Neill with regard to the upcoming Centennial celebration of Palmerton.O'Neill said she and her husband, along with the Palmerton Area Chamber of Commerce, have helped care for the "Welcome to Palmerton" sign that greets visitors as they enter the borough. She said she believes more flowers are needed to make the area "shine." As a result, O'Neill said students from 14 homerooms between S.S. Palmer and Parkside will grow seeds in their classrooms.O'Neill said each class has a unique color, and will group them in colors. Those flowers that are not planted at the entrance sign will be donated to both schools, where they will then be planted, she said."The kids are having fun," O'Neill said. "Hopefully, it gives them a little sense of community."The centennial celebration will be held on Oct. 14. The borough was officially incorporated on Oct. 14, 1912.
