Jim Thorpe police report the arrest of Michael Christopher Yoo, 50, of 212 W. High St., Nesquehoning, on drug-related charges.
Police said the arrest stems from an incident at 10:09 a.m. Sept. 30 when police stopped a car Yoo was driving in the 1100 block of North Street after the man committed a traffic violation. Police said when speaking to the man, they detected an odor of marijuana. Yoo told police the smell was from his dogs having been sprayed by a skunk.After a consented search of the vehicle, police discovered a glass pipe with burnt residue on it, as well as a vial of suspected marijauna.Polcie said Yoo later admitted to smoking marijuana prior to the stop. He was given a series of field sobriety tests, which he failed, and was placed under arrest. police said Yoo refused to submit to a blood test.He is facing charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and a summary charge of speeding.
