Sometimes moving to a new location can work wonders for local businesses.

Such has been the case for Romig's Auto Repair, now located at 849 W. Penn Pike in South Tamaqua.Owned by Dan Romig of Tamaqua, the business opened at its new location across the street from the former Leiby's Restaurant on June 13.Originally, the business had been located at 37 Drum St., Tamaqua, for nearly three years.Dan Romig said the couple chose to relocate because it outgrew its previous location."It's worked quite well," Romig said. "We've probably doubled more than we did."To celebrate the move, the couple will host a grand opening at the new location from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.Romig said his shop has a three-bay garage, along with a waiting room for customers, and specializes in "pretty much everything but bodywork and alignments."That includes transmission flushes, coolant flushes, brake fluid flushes, power-steering flushes, all automotive repairs, tires, exhausts, brakes, tuneups, computer diagnostics and computer reprogramming, engine and transmission replacements, he said.Romig said he has about 20 years of experience in the field."I always enjoyed doing it, taking things apart as a kid," he said.The business has three employees, Dan; his wife, Tanya, owner/secretary, and Cody Ulrich, technician.Romig said perhaps the most challenging aspect of his job is how computerized things have become, which has made things a little more technical and involved.Most important of all, Romig said his business is sure to treat its customers fair."We don't like to do things to cars that don't need to be done," he said.
