State police at the Schuylkill Haven barracks have issued two press releases relating to an incident that happened between 10 p.m. Dec. 21 and 8 a.m. dec. 22 at a soccer field located near Christ United Lutheran Church, Barry Township.

Police said the victim is Forrest L. Shadle, 83, of Lavelle.Police said an unknown vehicle, either a SUV or a truck, which had been traveling west on Airport Road, exited the road, struck no parking signs and a fence, and entered a soccer field before fleeing the scene.In addition to the hit-and-run violation, police said the vehicle caused about $1,000 worth of damages by digging about 80 feet of ruts in the dirt and mud in an effort to get out of the field.
