Walnutport Borough Council takes action

Walnutport Borough Council recently took the following action:

• Awarded a street project contract to Asphalt Maintenance Solutions in the amount of $30,462, and agreed to spend an additional $5,000 to do some more areas. The work will be paid the liquid fuels account.

• Agreed to advertise the borough’s recyclable and garbage contract for 2021-2024.

• Approved a settlement agreement on the Green Street condemnation matter. As part of the agreement, the borough will install a retaining wall and a vinyl fence, and the portion of the street that will be adjacent to the property owner’s property will be one way, with the balance of the street being two-way.

• Agreed to sell a 350-gallon diesel fuel tank on Municibid, and replace it with a 1,000-gallon tank donated to the borough by Diamond Fire Company.

• Agreed to disburse the yearly budgeted donations to Diamond Fire Company, fire police, Northern Valley Ambulance, Northern Lehigh Recreation Authority, Walnutport Recreation Board, and Slatington Library.

• Announced there will be no council meetings in June.

• Announced that the next borough council meeting will be held at 7 p.m. July 9.
