Carbon County court — ARD
Three defendants in pending driving under the influence cases were placed in Carbon County’s Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program on Thursday by President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II.
If a person successfully completes all conditions of the program, their record will be wiped clean. However, if they fail to complete it, or are revoked from it, then they would face trial on all pending charges. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.
The three were placed for a year.
Jeffrey Austin Sharp,
22, of Lehighton, was arrested on Sept. 7, 2018, by Franklin Township police for DUI of a controlled substance after being involved in a crash. A second DUI case, which occurred on Aug. 10, 2018, in Lehighton, also involving a crash, was dropped in a plea deal with the district attorney’s office.
He was assessed $650 for the cost of the program and his license was suspended for 90 days.
Haley D. Freeman,
19, of Plymouth, Luzerne County, was arrested on Aug. 9, 2019, by state police at Lehighton for DUI of a controlled substance.
He was assessed $650 and his license was suspended for 90 days.
Cristian A. Aleman,
23, of East Patchogue, New York. was arrested on May 13, 2019, by state police at Fern Ridge for DUI of a controlled substance and possession of a small amount of marijuana.
He was assessed $600 and his license was suspended for 60 days.
Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000, pay a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program and follow any recommendation of their drug and alcohol evaluation.
