A Carbon County couple married 50 years will be honored at the Diocese of Allentown's 37th annual anniversary celebration on Sunday.
Arthur and Mary Williams, of Lansford, members of St. Joseph Church in Summit Hill, who were married in 1966, are the longest married of the Carbon County couples expected to attend the celebration at the Cathedral of Saint Catherine of Siena in Allentown, which is scheduled for 3 p.m.Sixty-five other couples who have been married 50 or more years have also registered. In total, the 95 couples to be honored have been married more than 4,300 years.Allentown Bishop John Barres will celebrate Mass at the event and deliver the homily. Each of the couples in attendance will receive a personalized certificate signed by Bishop Barres.The Diocesan Office of Marriage and Natural Family Planning sponsors the annual celebration. Couples celebrating five, 25, 50 and 60 or more years of marriage are invited.
