Rush Township expects to adopt an ordinance that would squelch situations where residents place things on regulatory signs that reduce their visibility.

Township solicitor Chris Reidlinger announced at Thursday's board of supervisors meeting that the ordinance should be ready to vote on when the board meets at 7 p.m. Sept. 15.The sign ordinance would fine people who place things on regulatory signs, such as stop signs and yield signs, with fines ranging from $100 to $1,000, depending on the number of infractions.Trash collectionAlso on Thursday, Reidlinger announced that the township has solicited bids for trash collection and disposal.The township will accept bids for trash collection and disposal of refuse and recyclable material for a one- and three-year period until 4 p.m. Sept. 15, and will publicly open and read them at that night's board meeting.The township's current garbage and recycling contract is for three years with Advanced Disposal - Lehigh Valley.OtherIn other business, supervisors, on a 2-0 vote, with Supervisor Jeaninne Motroni absent:• Approved the township secretary/treasurer as chief administrative officer for the township's Uniform and Non-Uniform Pension Plans.• Agreed to allow Captain Merle Wertman of the fire police purchase road flares for the fire companies and the police.• Announced the township office will be closed on Sept. 5 for Labor Day. Garbage pickup for that Monday will be on Tuesday, and Friday's pickup will be Saturday.
