A look back: May 22, 1985

The grand opening of the Center for Life, Health, Growth and Commerce Inc., Jim Thorpe, took place Sunday afternoon with impressive ceremonies at the site.

The former Bevan Elementary School at 616 North St., located on the east side of the county seat borough, was the scene of a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Charles J. Bott, who acquired the historic structure from the Jim Thorpe Area School District, is president of CJB Enterprises, this area’s representative of the Success Motivation Institute and the developer of this unique venture.

His associate, Joseph E. Prior of Effort, served as master of ceremonies for the program.
