Defendants plead guilty

Defendants in pending cases entered guilty pleas before President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II.

Barry Lee Ohl II, 37, of Palmerton, pleaded to one count of flight to avoid apprehension.He was arrested on Oct. 1, 2014, when county sheriff deputies went to his residence at 256 Avenue A, Palmerton, to serve a warrant issued by the domestic relations office.When Ohl saw the sheriff's vehicle approaching his home, he fled on foot. Following a chase he was apprehended by the deputies.A charge of terroristic threats involving a male juvenile as the victim was dropped in a plea bargain with the district attorney's office.Nanovic deferred sentencing so Ohl could apply for placement in the county's Intermediate Punishment Program.Ryan M. Winch, 28, of Whitehall, pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. A charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana was dropped in a plea bargain.Winch was arrested on June 18, 2014, by state police at Lehighton following a vehicle stop along Route 248 in Palmerton.Winch is currently in the county's Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition program on another charge.Nanovic placed him on probation for a year, ordered he get a D&A evaluation, and imposed zero tolerance on D&A use.The term runs consecutive to the ARD program term.Each defendant sentenced must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
