State police at Fern Ridge

State police at the Fern Ridge barracks report the following incidents:

• Police were summoned at 6:54 p.m. April 26 to the Penn Jersey Deli, 2023 Route 209, Chestnuthill Township, when a panic alarm was being sounded at the business.

Police said the alarm was set off in error. Since it was the third time this has happened in the past 12 months, police issued a nontraffic citation for false alarms to the business.

• Police charged Eileen Ortiz, 51, of Wilkes-Barre, for shoplifting (retail theft) after an incident at 3:39 p.m. April 24 at Kinsley’s ShopRite store in Brodheadsville.

Police said she was caught attempting to steal items valued at $85.48 from the store.

• Police were summoned to an altercation involving family members at 5:39 p.m. May 2 along White Pine Drive in Jackson Township.

As a result of a verbal altercation that turned physical, police said three people were charged with harassment by physical contact. They include a 60-year-old man and two females, ages 16 and 19.

• Two vehicles sustained minor damages in an incident in the parking lot of Kinsley’s Store, Chestnuthill Township, according to state police at the Fern Ridge barracks.

It happened at 12:42 p.m. May 2.

Police said a 2005 Ford Econoline van was pulling out of a parking space when it struck the front driver’s side quarter panel of a 2018 Chevrolet Traverse that was unoccupied at the time.

The driver of the Econoline was not injured and both vehicles were able to be driven from the scene, police said.

• A crash occurred at 3:25 p.m. April 28 in the drive-­thru line of the Dunkin’ Donuts parking lot in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said the driver of a 2005 Mitsubishi Outlander accelerated the vehicle and it struck the rear of a 2013 Mitsubishi Lancer that was in front of it.
