Monroe County OKs contracts for $377K renovations

Last year Monroe County took over as owners of 701 Main St. in Stroudsburg. The county uses the majority of the rentable space in the building, which is in need of renovations.

During the commissioner's meeting Wednesday, the commissioners awarded bids to Bognet Inc. for general contracting at a cost of $265,000 and plumbing at a cost of $377,777. The heating contract was awarded to Spotts Brothers in the amount of $362,400. Electrical work was awarded to Mark Whitehead Electric at a cost of $135,000. The specifications for elevator repair was not awarded and will be re-advertised.The commissioners also approved a budget increase in the amount of $63,534 for the month. Of that amount, $35,000 will be used by the coroner's office for autopsies for the remainder of the year. The balance of the funds are for the corrections department for evaluations and supplies and other administrative adjustments.Patty Fretz, Robert Hoffman and Eric Koopman were reappointed to the Monroe County Transportation Authority by the commissioners.The commissioners also approved the purchase of furniture in the amount of $5,055 for a foster care waiting area. The purchase of two laser printers was also approved for the Prothonotary's Office.
