A Monroe County man entered guilty pleas to two counts of theft in two separate cases on Monday in Carbon County court and was sentenced to a state prison term.
Matthew Lee Frantz, 35, of Kunkletown, entered the pleas before Judge Steven R. Serfass. He admitted stealing a utility trailer from Thomas Fritz, of 325 Anderson Drive, Towamensing Township on April 9, 2015; and then taking a Yamaha all-terrain vehicle from Troy Kocher, of 500 Little Gap Road, Towamensing Township on June 16, 2015.Frantz told Serfass the thefts were to support his addiction to methamphetamine. Frantz is currently serving a 15 to 60 months state prison term at the state correctional institution at Camp Hill, Dauphin County, imposed in Monroe County for similar offenses.Serfass sentenced him to serve a total of 12 to 48 months in a state prison but it runs concurrent with the Monroe County sentence. He was given credit for 143 days spent in jail on the charges.He was also ordered to make total restitution of $2,142.38 to the victims, supply a DNA sample, render a total of 300 hours of community service when released on parole and pay court costs of about $1,000.
