The Pleasant Valley Band Parents organization will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday in the PVHS Band Room.OES meetingMonroe Chapter of the OES will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Rimrock Masonic Center on Rimrock Drive.Action will be taken on a proposed amendment for the bylaws changing the organization not having meetings in July and August to not having meetings in January and February.Meetings will still begin at 7:30 p.m.Seniors menuThe Chestnut Seniors, meeting at Zion Lutheran Church's Fellowship Hall in Brodheadsville as part of the Monroe County Seniors, are able to enjoy the following meals on their next two meeting days. This Friday it is roast pork and Feb. 8 it is Swiss steak.A donation is asked for.The meal reservation must be made by 11 a.m. the day before with the site manager at 570-242-6770 or 570-420-3735.Basket auctionPleasant Valley Middle School and Pleasant Valley Intermediate PTOs are sponsoring a basket auction scheduled from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at PVI.Other activities, such as food and a cake walk, will be part of the event.Admission is free and the drawing will occur at 2 p.m. Sunday. One does do not have to be present to win. All proceeds will support the children in PVMS and in PVI.Matinee beginsBeginning this Saturday, folks can enjoy a Saturday a matinee each Saturday at 1 p.m. in the community room of the Western Pocono Community Library.Each month movies from the following genres, in the following order, will be shown: drama, classic, family and comedy.Popcorn and water is available for purchase. Children under 10 years must be accompanied by an adult. It is dedicated to documenting and preserving the history of Polk Township and maintaining the R.M. Andrews Memorial Archives which is located in the historic former Patriotic Order Sons of America Lodge Hall.Open house is held at the lodge hall during the summer months. Group tours are available by appointment.
